I am resurrecting Trash to Treasure!

This particular project has to do with my

“Lipstick on a Pig Project.”

My building was built between Wadsworth and Broadway on 181st street in 1906. This is my subway station. They are working on the old mosaics-Inspiration!

The apartment once had transoms over the doorways. Unfortunately, there are hardly any original details remaining. I have a long hallway and I wanted to bring back the natural light that the transoms would have provided. So I dusted off my stained glass tools (most of these tools I inherited from my dad who taught me how to do stained glass) and I got to work. I used all the bits of glass I had squirreled away, and some old clear window pane glass.

I happen to love the Arts and Crafts era and particularly Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs. So I played around and came up with three windows. Here are some pics of the process.

I have yet to put the last one in. But I will get there!
